One of Rainier’s highest initiatives is to reduce the amount of waste we send to the landfill. Sometimes this leads us to some new and interesting connections!
This month, our fabric shop had some batting leftover from a project. We knew that we didn’t have a use for it, so instead of putting it on a shelf to collect dust or throwing it away, we went looking for an organization that could put it to good use.
That would be the Washington Stars Quilt Guild! Washington Stars Quilt Guild members lovingly hand make items to donate to a variety of recipients in our South Sound community including foster children, Providence St. Peters Family Birth Center, Thurston County Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Baby Bank, Hospice, and Safe Place.
Byron from the quilt guild stopped by to pick up the batting!
We’re so glad that we could not only keep a still useful material from the landfill, but also give back to our community and support this great organization.
