If you have ever replaced the brush in a screen hem bar, you probably did it by removing the track, then removing the hem bar cap so you could slide out the old brush and slide in the new.
Here is a short cut, courtesy of Southwest Shade Systems, that will save you time and labor.
Slide brush back from hem bar end cap about one inch (this is to prevent the new brush from falling out of the hole you are about to make) so you can drill a 5/16” hole in the slot where the brush is. This allows you to pull the keeter of the brush out of the hole you just created. Continue to pull the brush out of this hole.
Now you are ready to install new brush. Just slide it in through the hole. Cut the brush to allow you to poke the end into the hole and have it fill to the hem bar cap.
You might want to use touchup paint around the hole to blend the color of the hole. If you are installing 2” brush, this probably will not be an issue.
One installer swapped out the brush on two screens, approximately 10’ wide, in under 10 minutes.
