Carolina Unveils Baseball Hall of Honor
Rainier recently completed The Hall of Honor at the University of North Carolina’s Boshamer Stadium. The project, designed by Rainier’s own John Hansen and with art by Robert Boyce, featured display cabinets, custom exhibits, history murals, graphics, lighting and video displays filling a room overlooking the third baseline of this beautiful new ballpark. The latest in Rainier’s print and display technology were used to capture the school’s rich baseball history. The Hall of Honor opened to rave reviews on March 19th. UNC’s Assistant Athletic Director Michael Beale said of the results: “The room looks even better than I could have even imagined, and that is due in large part to the tremendous effort Rainier put in. I cannot begin to thank you all enough for making this project come to life.”
Care and creative technique were utilized in the Hall to display a variety of Carolina baseball artifacts, dating back to the turn of the century. Different displays showcase the Old Leaguers, Carolina's seventeen First-Team All-America selections, College World Series, NCAA postseason play, Atlantic Coast Conference Championships and eight ACC Players or Pitchers of the Year. Other highlights include the Major League Baseball draft board, bat and ball displays, CWS rings and Carolina Baseball tribute videos. In addition to the Hall of Honor, Rainier produced and installed grandstand banners, blade banners and concourse signage to complement the traditional design of the ballpark.
Rainier was honored to have been a part of this project and to work with the fine folks at UNC. Bringing the room and the past to life was very rewarding. Next time you’re in Chapel Hill, be sure to visit to the Hall of Honor and take in a Tar Heels game at The Bosh!
