The “Old Man” Tent
We’ve been making Wall Tents since the very beginning. We know how to do it right.
We call the Rainier Wall Tent the “Old Man.” Because he’s been around since the company began in 1896. We got our start making tents as Seattle Tent & Awning for the prospectors of the great Alaska Gold Rush.
This revered tent was the first product in our line. Its design has survived unchanged for a century because it guarantees effective protection from the rain or snow, longer camping seasons and real satisfaction in your outdoor experience.
We’d updated the tent with modern treatments, but we haven’t touched its basic elements. Canvas fabric for breathability and durability. Fastenings that won’t break. Five foot walls so you can move around your camp easily.
The Old Man has proven himself in the world’s most spectacular locations and harshest conditions, again and again. He was made, after all, to serve as semi-permanent shelter in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. The all-weather test doesn’t get harder than that.
Enjoy the rugged amenities of a high-altitude hunting camp, knowing that your tent is up the challenge. Experience the raw satisfaction of creature comforts – warmth, dryness, a cozy cot near a piping hot stove — in a remote location.
Be part of a true camping tradition. Many of our customers are the sons and grandsons of men who owned Rainier wall tents. They know our tents will last. They know they’re buying a piece of history. Making a memory.
