Reason #1: Snow Load Engineering

Rainier yurts are built tough! They are engineered to meet the International Building Code and feature the thickest, strongest lattice in the industry. We utilize Machine Stress Rated (MSR) Douglas Fir in our rafters with a 2,400 rating in bending stress – 40% stronger than standard fir. No other yurt will stand up to the snow and wind conditions like a Rainier yurt!

Reason #3: The Tallest Walls in The Industry

Our Eagle yurts are designed with 7’4” tall walls as a standard item at no additional cost! Everyone else stops at 7 feet... and charges you for an "upgrade". Rainier yurts have a spacious and open feeling. This design also allows for full height doors that are ADA accessible for handicapped users.

Reason #13: Eagle Blocks for Higher Snow Loads

Rainier yurts can withstand the most severe conditions by adding some of our innovative upgrades. Ring-to-Rafter Clips securely bond the rafters to the compression ring to prevent rafter rotation and increase vertical shear loads; Eagle Blocks between rafters enhance rafter strength and stabilize the roof system. Vertical posts at rafter ends add to the load capacity of the lattice wall.

Reason #24: SWAPwalls Modular Wall System

Only the Eagle yurt features our unique, interchangeable, two-color wall panels. You also decide where you'd like to put your windows — or you can change them with the seasons to take advantage of solar gain. Panels attach to each other with large, marine-grade zippers that are covered with Velcro flaps. The wall panels make Eagle yurts easier to put up and easier to repair if your yurt is damaged.

Reason #5: Real Doors

Our doors are full sized 36” X 80” and built with thermal insulated Low-E, double pane glass windows - not single pane Plexiglas that scratches easily and yellows over time. We have a variety of door choices, including: solid wood doors for privacy, our popular half-light door, and full light doors to maximize your view and natural lighting. We offer beautiful French door sets as well.

Reason #6: Real Windows

Rainier offers the Real Wood Window option; a variety of sizes are available with thermal insulated windows including removable insect screens.

Reason #7: Full Product Line

We offer the most complete line of products for every buyer and every budget. Our Raven yurt is designed and positioned to be the most competitive, mainstream yurt, and is our most popular model. It is available in seven standard sizes: 16’, 18’, 21’, 24’, 27’,30' and 33’. The Eagle yurt is for the discriminating buyer who prefers a premium product and fine features, and also comes in 16’, 18’, 21’, 24’, 27’,30' and 33’ standard sizes. We also offer the strong yet economical Sparrow yurt in 12’ and 14’ sizes. In addition to our yurts, we have a complete line of Rainier Cottages as an innovative alternative living solution.

Reason #18: Quick Delivery

Throughout most of the year, we are able to ship a custom yurt within one week of order if you require a rush delivery. No other yurt company stocks every color of fabric offered, and can customize your yurt and deliver it that fast!

Reason #17: Experience

Rainier’s roots go back to the Alaskan Gold Rush. We were founded in 1896 as Puget Sound Tent & Awning, merged with Seattle Tent & Awning in 1985 and subsequently changed our name to Rainier Industries. With the acquisition of Nesting Bird Yurts in 2004, we added the experience of a company that first built yurts for the Israel family in 1972. We are the only yurt supplier that has been satisfying customers for over 115 years!

Reason #10: Easy Installation

Only Rainier yurts come with the “story strip” to make your installation easy and accurate. Our install manual makes your yurt install fun and a rewarding experience for everyone involved. "I knew when we tacked up the story tape and we were within 3/16th of an inch, everything was golden! Thanks again for a great product and our hats off to the team that put together the assembly manual!"

Reason #34 – ISO Certified

We are the only yurt manufacturer in the world that is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Certified. That means we follow documented & defined processes and use sustainable practices to give you the best yurt in the industry.

Reason #72: The Story Strip

With this strip, there's no guesswork. Wrap it around the edge of the platform before starting your installation and it shows you exactly where all the critical elements go.

Reason #21: The Pursing String

An Eagle exclusive, this cable secures the wall structure to the deck using Jib hanks that twist and lock to a stainless steel cable, tucked underneath the platform. It keeps the wind, water and bugs out of your yurt.
