Manu-Craftering – What is it and why should I care?

First off, you should care because it enables us to give you the best made yurt in the marketplace. If you still want to know what it is, well, then keep on reading…

Corny as it sounds, it’s the word we made up to describe our unique blend of using state-of-the-art design, engineering & manufacturing equipment, tools and processes combined with good old fashioned craftsmanship in the form of guys (and gals) who know what they are doing, love doing it and have been doing it for longer than they’d like to admit!

(They were counting up the years of experience all the craft people have and they quit after about 107 because it was making them feel old…)

We are unique in the world of yurt makers because we are division within a larger manufacturing company – still family owned & operated – and yes, the boss still comes around everyday to see how its going and offer his two cents as needed. He’s not one of those owners that phones in once a month to tell you to cut costs after he gets the monthly statement from accounting – thank goodness…

The cool thing is that we get to learn and implement leading edge manufacturing techniques from the other divisions – which all kind of relate to yurt making in one weird way or another since the all use some part of the wood shop, metal shop, welding shop, fabric shop, powder-coating shop, awning & screen shop or printing shop.

Not to get off track, but in addition to yurts, we make tents, awnings, exterior window screens, marine windows, industrial fabric products, trade show booths, stadium & sports graphics and retail store displays – all of which use the same core manufacturing techniques and processes.

And we do work for companies like Boeing, NASA, Nordstrom, Starbucks, Disney, Amazon, Yahoo, & the Seattle Mariners – as well as the Olympics and big name colleges around the country – so we must be doing something right because they keep coming back for more.

We also have fancy certifications called ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 which basically show that we know how to make things – and that we respect & take care of the environment in the process.

It all adds up to this – we are a diverse group with the single focus of building the best product – we call it Manu-Craftering…

Oh yeah, we are also lucky enough to have the luxury of a wide and stable financial base of business to work from – which in these economic times, is about as important as making the best product since customers usually want to buy from a company that will be around in the future… so us having been in business since 1896 is comforting in that respect.

That brings us back to the sentence at the top of the page… We believe our Manu-Craftering process produces the best yurts in the world – but of course, we’re biased… Can we convince you?
