"Can we make a yurt that is portable, easy to set up and more affordable?" That was the question that hatched The Sparrow...

You’ve probably noticed that we name our yurts after birds – and the Sparrow was chosen for this yurt because they are known to be small, but strong… just like this yurt.

Built to the same quality and standards as it bigger cousins, this yurt is designed for short-term use with the optional vinyl floor which is perfect for campsites.

Or, it can be installed for longer-term use by installing it onto a platform – free plans including a bill of materials are available for the platform design.

Both sizes feature a quality frame, a door with a half-light window, and a one piece cover that includes three screened windows with weather flaps.

Reason #13: Eagle Blocks for Higher Snow Loads

Rainier yurts can withstand the most severe conditions by adding some of our innovative upgrades. Ring-to-Rafter Clips securely bond the rafters to the compression ring to prevent rafter rotation and increase vertical shear loads; Eagle Blocks between rafters enhance rafter strength and stabilize the roof system. Vertical posts at rafter ends add to the load capacity of the lattice wall.

Reason #1: Snow Load Engineering

Rainier yurts are built tough! They are engineered to meet the International Building Code and feature the thickest, strongest lattice in the industry. We utilize Machine Stress Rated (MSR) Douglas Fir in our rafters with a 2,400 rating in bending stress – 40% stronger than standard fir. No other yurt will stand up to the snow and wind conditions like a Rainier yurt!
